When you use TrueView, we collect the following information:

• Account information: username, email address, password (hashed), date of birth, phone number, and gender (provided during registration).
• Usage data: videos you watch, like, save, share, follow, and upload.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and operating system.
• Content you submit: videos, comments, feedback messages, and any media you upload.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Platform.
• Personalise your feed based on your engagement signals.
• Send you account-related notifications (uploads approved, new followers, password resets).
• Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and unauthorised activity.
• Comply with legal obligations.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the limited circumstances below:

• Cloudflare: we use Cloudflare's content-delivery network and R2 object storage to host video files and protect against abuse. Cloudflare receives request metadata as a normal part of routing traffic.
• Email providers: outbound transactional emails (password resets, notifications) are delivered through our configured SMTP service.
• Legal compliance: if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Video-event tracking data older than 90 days is automatically purged.

If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information and uploaded content within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct any inaccurate information through your account settings.
• Delete your account and personal data by contacting us.
• Object to certain types of processing.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

TrueView uses browser cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (mute state, last-seen splash, follow state), and improve performance.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

7. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard practices: passwords are hashed with bcrypt, transport is encrypted via HTTPS, and access to production systems is restricted.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work continuously to protect your data.

8. Children's Privacy

TrueView is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the bottom reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform.
